    Critical Genealogies

The collection "Critical Genealogies," edited by Verena Erlenbusch-Anderson, Colin Koopman, and Bonnie Sheehey, presents genealogical research engaged in investigating problematizations of the present as well as work addressed to questions of methodology in genealogy. The unifying theme of the special collection is a shared interest in taking up genealogy as a method for interrogating the history of our present, a present that differs in important ways from the present examined by genealogical predecessors such as Nietzsche, Foucault, Williams, and others. The collection features genealogical works-in-progress and reflections on methodological questions of research design, strategy, and structure as well as practical questions about conducting genealogical research. The launch piece for the collection is a group interview on genealogical methodology titled "Ways of Doing Genealogy" in which is conveyed a variety of reflections on deploying genealogical methods across a range of topics.
