This special collection, edited by Michaela Bstieler and Sergej Seitz, proceeds from the conviction that the polycrisis of our times crucially involves a crisis of solitary, in which the forms, motivations, potentials, and limits of political solidarity become problematic. Against this backdrop, the humanities and social sciences are called upon to rethink and reimagine what solidary practices and infrastructures can or ought to look like. The aim is to reconceptualize solidarity not based on identity but starting with alterity.
